Remember remember the 5th of Movember...

The task is simple, the will power needed is a whole other story. I am about to embark on a journey where I aim to grow my moustache in an effort to raise money to help combat malaria in Africa and the developing world.

Please visit my justgiving page at www.justgiving.com/walli-mo and donate generously. All proceeds will benefit 'Malaria Consortium' - Malaria Consortium is the world's leading charity dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other childhood illnesses in the developing world. More than 800,000 people die of malaria annually, mostly young children and pregnant women. Help us end these needless deaths! Visit http://www.malariaconsortium.org/ to learn more about Malaria and what Malaria consortium is doing to help combat it!

Why a moustache you may ask? Well my boss Brett ran the London Triathlon to raise money and as much as I would like to do something as glorious as that to raise money for charity, I am too much of a recent fatass to actually do anything of that nature. Cue...Movember. The month of November where men dedicated their time and effort to maintaining the glory of days gone by in a moustache. Curious choice of activity you may ask? Well ever since I could grow a moustache (or any facial hair for that matter!) I have never (i mean NEVER!) had any facial hair of any sort. While my friends were busy experimenting with goatees, handlebar moustaches (a la Hulk Hogan) and full on beards when we were teenagers, I chose to go with the clean and easy look...a simple shave every week was all I need to look cool!

So the temptation to shave off a moustache is high with me...and as you have to do something remarkable [sic] for someone to contribute to your cause; I am going to resist the temptation to shave my upper lip till the end of November!!!

To prove just how long ago it was since I had a moustache...here's a glimpse of when I actually had any facial hair of any kind (circa 3 November 1998):

So here's my promise...You donate to my cause and I keep the 'stache till the end of November! Furthermore, the following apply:

1. Highest donor - Get's a chance to pick the shape the moustache will take on the 1st of December 2010 (maintained till 3rd December 2010)
2. If we raise £500 then the moustache stays till Christmas.
3. Every donor will receive a special thank you and a small token of appreciation from Africa.

I will try my best to upload pictures of the 'stache on weekly basis.

For ease of donation...I have setup a justgiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/walli-mo. Please donate generously...and let the moustache begin.
